Sound and score on “Transaction” officially begins

Thursday, January 22nd, 2009

I’ve been looking forward to getting this project under way since I spec’d out the sound design on the initial cut late last year. It’s the pilot for a web series entitled “What If?”. If you’re thinking “Outer Limits” gets mugged in a dark alley by “The X Files” and “The Twilight Zone”, then you’re on the right track. This episode occurs in a bank, which means lots of cheezy Muzak style source cues playing against the darker undercurrent of the drama unfolding on screen. The real kicker is that I get to do a surround mix for this as well as the obligatory stereo mix, which opens up a lot of possibilities. I doubt that the surround mix will be put on the web, but it bodes well for seeing this series on DVD – at least as a screener. This will be the first project that I’ve worked on with the extended version of the SmartAV Tango – it’ll be fun to figure out the best setup for programming the macro keys and such on the extension bay.
