Studio Updates and Projects for May

Written by Houston Haynes on May 5th, 2009

There’s quite a bit going on in the studio. Besides the music cues I’m working on, there’s also an article that I’m writing for the SCORECast online portal as well as some side projects that look to be pretty interesting. The days certainly fly by when I’m engaged to this level (perhaps over saturated from time to time) – and it also means that general web site maintenance and other forms of digital house cleaning get pushed to the side. I’m taking a break from the studio refactoring to take care of some of that now before things spin out too far.

One of the fun things I’ve been playing around with is a hand-held HD web camera that shoots pretty decent footage. I’ve been capturing clips and editing in Sony Vegas (which is about to release version 9 – which includes 4K and RedOne support – drag and drop on the time line – nice). Once I’m comfortable with the workflow and compression for web publishing, I’ll post a few casual videos here. I also hope to do some more formal industrial-type video in the studio – part demonstration and part tutorial-type stuff for the new gear and software that I’m installing now. Hopefully it will all go up before the summer gets away from me. Then this site will likely morph from a simple blog to a vlog. [cue sound of "ooohs" and "aahs" in hushed tones]
